Maples Field VG57 (formally Whitman Strip), Catlett, VA was established in 1962 as a private use airstrip. Beginning in the early 80’s, it was home to a local ultra light aircraft club and was reclassified as a public use airstrip. In 2005, the property was purchased by Charles Maples and has been home and a favorite destination for vintage and antique aircraft. In 2010, a model aircraft club was established (Giant Scale Aeromodelers Association, AMA #4984) and continues to operate today. Please follow this link for information – GSAA.
