Maples Field, formerly known as Whitman Strip, is a private-use airstrip in Catlett, Virginia. Established in 1962, it became a hub for a local ultralight aircraft club in the early 1980s, and was briefly reclassified as a public-use airstrip. In 2005, Charles Maples purchased the property, and it has since become a beloved destination for vintage and antique aircraft enthusiasts.
Today, Maples Field returns to private use, reserved for the owner and invited guests only. It features a single grass runway (Runway 4/22, 2,450 ft × 45 ft). The airfield is situated on the fringe of the Washington, DC Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA), so pilots must contact Charles Maples in advance to obtain landing permission and to receive information on special arrival and departure procedures.
